My Students

My students are challenged with learning about habitats and ecosystems through textbooks. I want to make my classroom a place where there are different habitats in the classroom for them to see, touch, hear, and all around experience.

I teach in a rural community school in Oklahoma with bright and ambitious students.

Our strength is our community support and our motivation for success. I am proud to be a part of our growing military school and always challenged to lead a classroom with students coming and going in the middle of a school year.

My Project

Having a terrarium will enhance the environmental science in my class because it will allow me to get hermit crabs so the students can watch the interaction of a real habitat. The students will be able to see how hermit crabs live, eat, and survive in a very different ecosystem. My goal is to provide the students with a variety of hands-on ecosystems such as a frog, fish, and hermit crab habitat so the students can compare the environments and interact within each one.

You can help me teach the students about our world in a way textbooks can not do.

I need your support so I can effectively reach my students today and for years to come. By having a terrarium in my class, I will be able to bring the outside environment into our classroom. Learning will be enhanced from it everyday.
