My students need a more enhanced dramatic play centers. My students need community workers clothes, they need pretend food to learn about healthy eating.
I have a bilingual classroom. All my students are Native Chinese speakers and speak Chinese at home. They are only exposed to English in school with their friends and teachers. They are so smart and bright. They would benefit by learning with hands-on materials. They are curious about the world around them and want to learn more. They have a strong Chinese language background, and if they are provided with good learning resources as well, it will expand their learning as well as improve their English language skill.
My Project
I want a more enhanced dramatic play center where students can spark their imagination and pretend they can be people they've never been or do jobs they have not done before.
My students will learn about community workers and how community workers help our community.
My students need pretend clothes so they can pretend they are the different community workers and take on the roles that these people have. They will also be familiar with the work that these community people have and why they are so important for our community. I want my students to change the dramatic play center into anything they feel, a doctor office, a vet clinic, a hospital, a school, not only a kitchen. With the pretend clothes, it will give them the chance to play the different roles in these different settings.
I also want to enhance my students' learning about the different types of food group and how they can choose to eat healthy food in their real lives while pretending to cook up a meal in my dramatic play center! They need more pretend food and the baskets for the different food groups.
