Help me give my students a portable green screen, board game storage, black lights, and a tall wobble stool for an engaging return to school in person!
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students are creative, clever, and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention.
Many of them are being raised in single-parent households, receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status, and are English Language Learners. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as typical.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire my students to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Engagement is something that I absolutely love bringing into my classroom. I love to provide unforgettable learning experiences for my students that make them excited to be at school.
It is no mystery that Covid-19 has made this school year unlike any other.
I want to provide an opportunity to bring engagement that, regardless of our restrictions, can create an exciting environment to learn. Since we have to be more portable as teachers I would love to add a portable green screen option for my classroom to give all of my students the opportunity to create amazing projects to demonstrate their learning. I would love to have a more portable option to store my board games so all of my students have the opportunity to use them. I would love to add another option for seating that is a standing desk option.
And lastly, backlights will create another unforgettable learning experience when we return to school in-person. My students have missed being in the classroom so much and I can't wait to celebrate who they are as students and turn this school year from being one we wish we could forget to one that will forever be in their mind.
