Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the grade in between Preschool and Kindergarten. I work with 4 and 5 year old children from all walks of life in a safe and fun learning environment. Some of my kids come in ready to learn how to read and write while others come in eager to learn how to be a successful student. Together we enhance our learning through Art, Music, Reading, Writing, Math and Dancing. My kids enjoy the curriculum, projects and experiments that I have developed for our TK program.
My kids are my students; once they enter my classroom they are forever my babies.
They know it and so do their parents. When parents drop off my kids in the morning they know that they are well taken care of. I have been extremely lucky to have a classroom full of enthusiastic kids ready and eager to learn. They love to "show off" the skills they have learned throughout the year. I have a lot of proud moments with my kids because I get to see them grow so much throughout the year both academically and socially. After 21 years of teaching I still look forward to meeting my new babies!
My Project
I like to create a learning environment that encourages everyone to participate regardless of academic ability. A magnetic easel would help me develop lessons that will encourage student participation and learning. It will allow students to use magnetic letters and pictures to facilitate their contribution to the lesson being taught. With a magnetic easel students can share their ideas even if they cannot write yet. It will provide a creative way for my kids to express themselves.
A magnetic easel in our classroom will help build self confidence in my kids.
Especially to those who are learning English as a second language. This easel can provide an endless amount of learning possibilities. This magnetic easel has several features that can easily be used with all subject matter. It is a simple tool that can make a big difference in how my students learn and express themselves.
