Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each day, I stand at the front of my room and hope that my 1970's easel does not fall on my students. As they read the morning message and point to each word on the chart paper, the easel barely stands up. Wouldn't you like to help us get a new one?
My students are a diverse group of five- and six-year-olds who are hungry to learn!
We are a focused school, with reduced class size, due to our 50% free and reduced meals. Our school promotes a positive learning environment where our students strive to reach their highest levels of ability.
My Project
When I arrived at my school six years ago, I was given an easel to use each day. I write our schedule for the day and we read it together, but I am always afraid it will fall! This old wooden and cork-board contraption is held together by a rusty chain that can easily buckle when a student even touches it the wrong way. A new easel will help my students learn safely!
The new easel I have chosen is not only safer, but also provides storage that is easily accessible for my students.
It has a place to hang chart paper, a wipe-off board and a ledge where we can stand books of many sizes during read alouds! Please allow us to learn more and be safe!
