Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm an ESL teacher with 48 students from grades K-5, many who are very new to the United States. Every morning I'm greeted with their beautiful smiles and lots of hugs!
They impress me every day with their perseverance and eagerness to learn English.
All of my students come to school each day with the knowledge that this is a safe place to grow and learn together. I want to provide them with the materials needed to give them access to the high quality instruction they deserve.
My Project
A key part of effective instruction for English Language Learners is modeling and providing easy access to visuals and new vocabulary. I need a place to model writing, display shared reading poems, build with magnetic letters and words, hold anchor charts and display words and pictures.
This mobile easel will help me create a learning environment where my students can learn together with easy access to the visuals and vocabulary they need as they learn a new language.
I love to keep my lessons in small groups so that every student can have opportunities to contribute to our learning. The mobility of this easel will help me to conduct those lessons, whether we are on the carpet or at a table.
