Every year I have a 22 new faces walk into my 3rd grade Texas classroom. They are excited, nervous, and are anxiously observing the classroom in order to make connections with their prior classroom experiences. These kids come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a vast range of academic and social skills with them, along with different life experiences. Some are well traveled and have had opportunities that have enriched their lives, while others have never experienced opportunities outside of our amazing town. One thing these kids all have in common is ambition to learn and a love for school!
My students are inquisitive, passionate, and have a drive for a deeper understanding of the content being taught.
For some of my students learning comes easily, but for others they have many obstacles to overcome. For example; learning disabilities, language barriers, behavior plans, and poverty are just to name a few. Each year I am blessed to witness EVERY child achieve goals they have set for themselves, observe acts of kindness, and watch them build each other up. My students are going to make a positive impact on this World!
My Project
I am a self contained 3rd grade teacher. I begin all my lessons on the carpet for a direct teach. An easel will positively impact the instruction in my classroom. This will allow all students' the opportunity to watch me model without blocking their view and allow for them to hear my thinking clearly as I teach. Reader and Writer's Workshop is an important part of my daily instruction. I have many anchor charts that I create and refer back to on a daily basis. Having the anchor charts stored on the easel will help drive instruction and access to the charts.
