My students need a listening center, which includes 2 CD players, Belkin headphone splitters (so that multiple students can listen at once), and a few books with audio CDs to get me started.
This school year, I will have a class of about 28 energetic first graders with a variety of interests, skill sets, needs, and cultural backgrounds.
This group of students is very sweet and eager to learn!
They are enthusiastic and eager to discover new adventures in their favorite books. They love hands-on activities that allow them to be creative. I am looking forward to helping them reach their goals this school year as they continue to explore and grow as learners!
My Project
A listening center is an integral part of any primary classroom. Listening centers allow students to enjoy books that are above their reading level and promote active listening skills. More importantly, a listening center helps promote fluency as students hear reading modeled by a fluent reader while they track print across the pages.
I believe that every primary classroom should be equipped with a listening center so that students have the opportunity to practice these skills!
With these new CD players, headphone splitters, and audiobooks, my students' love for books will grow as they are exposed to books that are not usually accessible to them, and in turn, their reading fluency will increase.
