This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Social Studies at a middle school in Greeley, Colorado, to 175 students. This group is very diverse with a large population of them needing instructional differentiation in order to best suit their physical, mental, and emotional needs, as 85% of our school is at or below the poverty level. They come with so much energy and love for learning the history of our world, but some just need that extra little outlet to exert that energy in order for more learning to take place!

My Project

Headphones can make learning more entertaining, effective, and accessible to students. Headphones allow students to go at a comfortable and personalized speed and go back and re-listen/watch so genuine understanding can occur. We all know students learn in different ways, and headphones will help limit distractions and set them up for educational success. Information and critical thinking are essential skills in social studies, and headphones will allow students to practice critical thinking and help them retain information. These headphones will allow students to be engaged in rigorous assignments and materials and work at different speeds, as well as give them access to various forms of learning to help them learn about history and other cultures!
