This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom starts with eager learners coming through the door. They are in need of as many opportunities to develop their young minds as I can give them.
My students come from a high poverty community.
They lack resources and materials that help develop their education. As a school, we provide free breakfast, and a majority of my students also receive free lunch. They come to school without the materials needed to complete their daily work.
My Project
My students will use this writing center in all subject areas. They will have an opportunity to visit the writing center during center time several times throughout the week. This writing center consists of a desk for at least four students, separate compartments for organizing different types of writing materials, a writing caddy that will hold writing instruments, and four chairs. This center will be an inviting place to encourage the students to create their thoughts and ideas into writing.
We desperately need this writing center for our students.
This center will motivate my students to write and create wonderful stories. Their writing will help lead them to a successful life!
