Help me give my students the opportunity to meet one of their favorite authors Dan Gutman. He is the author of My Weird School books.

“Sometimes we spend so much time and energy thinking about where we want to go that we don't notice where we happen to be.”
― Dan Gutman, From Texas with Love
I have 16 of the most amazing students. They are bright, kind, inquisitive and fiercely attentive to their education. Each of these third grade students have worked hard to excel in reading and writing. This opportunity to meet their favorite author will change their lives.
“TV is boring,” I said. “Let’s read a book together.”
― Dan Gutman, Back to School, Weird Kids Rule!
For our winter break celebration this year, I gave my third grade students a copy of Dan Gutman's book My Weird Writing Tips. I believe in my students and their talents. I know my students will use this book to guide, encourage, develop and hone their writing skills and creativity. This project, through Donor's Choose, will give them the added opportunity to meet and talk with the author who wrote their book. I emailed Dan Gutman and in the email he detailed what his presentation to the students will include. I am asking for one 30 minute sessions with Mr. Gutman.
A brief introduction about how I was a reluctant reader as a child.
--For grades 2 and 3, I’ll explain how I got the idea for My Weird School.
--For everybody, I’ll read a chapter of a book that hasn’t been published yet.
--For everybody, I’ll hold up my rejection letters to tell the kids they should NEVER GIVE UP.
--For everybody, I show the students how they can construct a story on their own in 8 simple steps.
--For everybody, I finish up with Q and A.
