Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My student's have the potential to become more than what they believe. Over half of our school is labeled as economically disadvantaged. I want to give each child the confidence they need to succeed in school and later in life. They are eager to learn and I am always looking for opportunities to help foster their learning and growth in a positive way. I love to see their excitement when we begin a new topic to write about.
I believe that with the right materials and my eagerness to teach, I can help them overcome any obstacles they are facing now.
My Project
In the past, when there was more funds available, each child was given a binder with supplies to enhance their writing to help them prepare for the State test. I have used and reused the binders we had. I only have about 15 that are in O.K. shape and I have 60 students.
With these binders, pens, and other supplies, this will not only impact the students I have now, but future writers that come into my classroom.
I want them to feel that everything they write in their binder is theirs, and I want them to take ownership of it, because that will help them become the author's that are in them that are waiting to come out to meet the world.
