Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Teaching is the act of sharing knowledge we've been given by others with the hope that someday, in some way, it again will be passed on." My typical day involves mobility to help individuals as they need. I want to integrate new technology in my room to help my ESL students comprehend better.
My students are ferocious technology users.
They are eager to show what they know in new and interesting ways beyond paper and pencils. They like pop culture and learning new things in science that they never knew existed before.
My students are mostly At Risk students and I teach all of the ESL Biology students. They are shy but curious.
My Project
Having Apple TV in my classroom will help make me a more mobile teacher. My ESL students will benefit from having this technology in my room in many ways. As we do work, students will be able to see our handouts projected on the screen. They will be able to take turns annotating documents and notes. They can define words they do not know or understand, Google images of them to help the class better comprehend the content in English.
Students will be able to draw representations of the content by using the class iPad. They can take turns working in collaborative groups to display their answers and work. Also, using science apps on the iPads they can display their screens and lead the class through examples.
Your donation will benefit my large ESL population by allowing them to feel included in class lessons.
They can take technology into their own hands, search and discover, and share with the other struggling students. It allows them to get comfortable practicing with technology in the areas of searching, spelling, and displaying what they truly know.
