Due to Hurricane Harvey, my school was flooded with 2 feet of water. As a result, all of our supplies have been unsalvageable. I am start over in hopes to have my classroom up and running for the start of the new school year.
My students' school is one of the schools in Houston ISD that was severely affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The materials in the classroom will not be able to be utilized this school year. The apartment communities were flooded and have caused many of our students to be displaced. Unfortunately, this will make our mobility rate really high for this up and coming school year. I want my students to have the supplies need to have a successful school year.
In my very diverse classroom, there are many different learning styles. Some students are receiving resource services. In May, my students will take the state exam for the first time. Their accommodations will allow them to use the Kurzweil program.
My students need a computer to take online assessments.
They will also have the opportunity to have stories read to them at their own pace.
A computer in the classroom will afford the opportunity to practice assessments before the state exam. Daily practice will help them to be successful will taking online assessments. This will help build confidence and independence.
