I am a first year kindergarten teacher at a Title One school in Oakland where over eighty percent of our student population receives free school lunch. Many of my students are in crisis situations at home, and school is their safe and happy place. I am committed to providing my students with engaging learning activities and making our classroom a safe and inviting environment.
Having proficient academic and social-emotional skills is essential for all students to be successful as they move through elementary school and beyond.
My kindergarten students have a variety of abilities and skills. Each day, we will work to develop the critical skills necessary to be lifelong learners in our community.
My Project
I want my students to have the literacy and math skills necessary for lifelong success. Our school uses Lexia Reading Core5 for developing literacy skills, and ST Math for developing mathematical reasoning skills. Our classroom has limited access to iPads and additional ones will give more student a chance to practice these skills during our weekly centers.
Technology is one of the best ways to engage students in learning tasks.
Increasing the amount of accessible technology in our classroom will increase the amount of time students are using these online resources to practice their skills. With these additional iPads, I can have more students practicing their literacy and math skills each day. Every donation helps make my classroom come alive and makes learning fun for my students. Thank you for any help with this project. We appreciate you!
