I need a laptop so that I can present and learn at conferences as well as record videos for my students.

My Students

I teach French at an urban 9-12 high school where my students come from diverse backgrounds, many of whom do not look like me. However, we all share a passion to learn about the French culture, language and history of the French speaking world. I am fortunate to be able to have many of my students in French class for 2-3 years and because of that, am able to create a unique, positive classroom climate where all students feel welcome.

My Project

I attend professional development conferences to learn the latest best practices in World Language instruction so that I can be a better teacher.

Having a laptop would allow me to follow along with the presentations and access additional resources so that I can implement the new best practices in my instruction.

I also present at conferences to share the strategies that I am implementing that have a positive impact on student learning. I would be able to use the laptop to present my presentation and share resources with others.

In addition to using it for professional development, I would use the laptop to create professional videos for my students so that they can take control of their learning. These videos help level the playing field for all students as they can watch the videos whenever and wherever they want. Lately, I have been using my iPhone to record videos, however I am running out of space to store and create them.
