Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember your favorite story as a child? The favorite project your teacher had you create? My goal is to create these memories in my students while they are in my 3rd grade class.
For the last 10 years I have had the privilege to teach 3rd grade to many amazing students.
What I found was their thirst for knowledge and experiences never ceased to amaze me. For many of our students having a computer at home is a luxury they just don't have, however that does not stop them from wanting to learn and explore what they can create on a computer.
My Project
I am requesting 1 MacBook, 1 Apple mouse, 1 Apple AirPort Time Capsule hard drive, and 1 two-year protection plan.
The use of this MacBook, Apple mouse, and Apple Time Capsule will allow my students to create videos, trailers, and other presentations to “sell” books to one another and to other classes. One of my goals would be for students to create videos/podcasts to show their families all that they’ve learned in reading, thus helping them teach others about different reading concepts. Teaching others in one of the best ways for students to show mastery of the concept/topic and what a fun way to do that by creating videos for others.
Being able to add this additional technology to my classroom will help open doors for my students who do not have computer access at home.
The videos that the students will create will help open new doors of my students being able to express what they’ve learned but also in learning by watching other classmate’s videos. I’m looking forward to watching my students create their own showcase of their learning.
