Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach a group of 20 five and six year olds from all sorts of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and family backgrounds. Although different, they primarily share a low socioeconomic household. I teach at a public school in west TN, and our school shares the same type of background as my group of children. Well over 80% of our school is on free or reduced price lunch.

Overall, my group of students is excited to be in school, some for the first time, and love anything that makes them feel like a "big kid."

My Project

Having an iPad with a screen protector and cases in the classroom would be so beneficial for use. We would use to do really cool projects like creating digital stories, using the green screen, presenting projects using apps like Chatter Pix. All of these things will bring our learning alive and let the students see that technology can be used for more than just sitting and playing a game all day.

Technology is such a useful tool that can be used to up the academic level of students.

Many students just don't know it can be used for so much more than what they are currently using it for. That is why we need this device, to up our academic game!
