Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from a diverse and rural background. I have many students who are from a one parent home or live with grandparents. All of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch, we are a Title I school. Some of the parents have difficulty purchasing essential school supplies and rely on community partners for the simplest of supplies, like pencils.

The students are eager to come to school and learn.

I have no technology in my classroom other than what I bring in. There are so many advantages to having IPads and opportunities for my students to learn from online curriculum.

I am a veteran teacher but I have been out of the regular classroom for a few years. Most of my non-essential products I gave away to other struggling teachers to fill their needs. I am in need of IPads so my students will have the same advantages other students have.

My Project

The Covid19 has shut down our schools!! Through all of this, I have found resources for my students to use at home to the best of their ability. But also, I have learned these resources can be used in the classroom and with more participation . The problem is, I have no technology in my classroom except my personal computer and IPad. My students love to go to the computer lab but within my classroom I do not have enough to share. With the two I am requesting and my own four students will be able to utilize these at one time. We also use my personal equipment to take district mandated online assessments.
