An Apple a Day, Helps Us Learn Today!
My students need to improve their basic skills through modern technology with an iPad.
My first grade students are a diverse mix of many different ethnic groups. They are in a very low socioeconomic community. The majority of my students are English Language Learners who speak a variety of different languages.
The students in our school don't have many personal belongings, so much of the time our school takes on the responsibility of providing them with their school supplies.
Unfortunately, our school is not funded with a lot of money- so technology is limited.
Most of my first graders are reading below grade level and their math skills are also below grade level. Most are English Language Learners. They need new and exciting ways to help improve their reading, writing and math skills. With the use of an iPad, my students will be able to use apps to engage them and help prepare them for the future. My students will be playing games and not realizing that they are practicing fluency, sight words, spelling, reading comprehension, counting, adding, subtracting and word problems. My first graders will be able to take a break from their daily work and "play" while learning.
