Everyday following our moment of silence and our flag salutes, we recite our school creed. My favorite line is "working to become life long learners, we soar above the rest, becoming leaders of the future...". My job is to make sure these children become life long learners.
I am privileged to spend my days teaching the forty-eight of the youngest learners in our school.
I teach two classes each day and each group is only with me for two and a half hours. In that short amount of time I do my best to make sure that each and every one of them are prepared for 1st grade. Most of all, I make sure they leave me with a love of learning.
My Project
My students need 2 I-pad mini's, protective cases and headphones to create a classroom computer station. With an iPad center my students will have access to technology that they deserve! They will work on many skills at their own pace, such as letter identification, number identification, beginning sounds, rhyming words and counting syllables in words. The apps that are available for this age group are countless, many of them can be individualized for each child. They will also have countless books to choose from in the palm of their hands. Working on an iPad also strengthens their fine motor skills. We work on all of these skills throughout the school year but with an iPad they will get even more practice and experience the success they deserve.
My students love technology, they love to learn and the combination of the two is amazing.
