Our ESL students are amazing! They come from a variety of cultural backgrounds, speaking various languages. We have students from Congo, Mexico, Nepal, Venezuela, Cuba, and Somalia, just to name some of the countries. Many of our students live with extended family members in small apartments. They often do not have the opportunities to enjoy the benefits of technology in their home environments. Our school is a great place for them to come together and learn using this technology. They are excited to be at school and love to learn. They are absolutely fascinated by computers, iPads, tablets, and the Smartboard. All technology excites them! They are eager to learn the English language and would love the opportunity to have the resources to practice here in our classroom.
My Project
Our students are eager to use technology whenever they can. We love having our Chromebooks in our class for a variety of assignments and activities, however we would love to have access to iPads with a learning program, like Osmo. The ESL students in our class are creative and unique and want to show this by using Osmo. We want to create a hands-on learning experience for them that covers problem solving, creativity, fine motor-skill development, spelling, coding, and even math. These amazing multi-lingual learners can show all they know!
