Amygdala Reset Corners

Help me give my students an amygdala rest corner in every teacher's classroom to help build a common language as well as provide strategies for students to use to calm down when experiencing big emotions.

My Project

This project will allow each teacher an opportunity to have an amygdala reset corner for their students. The reset corner will not only have a chair and some fidgets, but other tools as well (i.e. breathing poster(s), books on feelings, and/or paper and colored pencils) that students can choose from when they are having a big emotion. By allowing the student the opportunity to calm down in a safe space, the students learn that they are in control of their feelings and teach them to keep their prefrontal cortex (PFC) in control.

School-wide social-emotional lessons are taught K-3, focusing on expected/unexpected behaviors, the brain, body sensations, the Zones of Regulation, and apologizing/empathy.

Creating this corner will enhance and strengthen the information taught in each lesson.
