Our school boasts a diverse student population serving grades 6 - 12, with over 50% of students eligible for free or reduced cost lunch.
DCIS prepares students for college by developing multilingual, interculturally competent citizens who are actively involved in our rapidly changing world.
Our students are globally minded, linguistically diverse and passionate. As an international studies school our classes explore content through a global lens producing thoughtful and engaged learners. DCIS students are expected to practice and promulgate the school’s core values: Integrity, High Expectations, Diversity, Collaborative Culture, and Reflection. Among other pursuits, students successfully curate a portfolio of their best work, guided by the four domains of global leadership, in order to earn a DCIS diploma.
A textbook cannot and should not be the only source of information students receive on a subject. Supplemental texts are vital in a history class.
Each year our AP United States History (APUSH) class covers over 600 years of history.
The amount of content can be overwhelming, especially when students are relying on a dense textbook. Amsco will serve as a supplemental resource to by reviewing and synthesizing broader themes, regions, events, and people. Additionally, Amsco offers students the opportunity to practice historical thinking skills (stimulus-based multiple choice, short answer questions, and essays) throughout.
Please support this ambitious project by ensuring all AP students have access to a high quality supplemental resource.
