Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most dedicated musicians that a high school has ever seen. Almost all of my students started their musical journey in high school, as the middle schools do not have music programs. Due to this, they are very driven to make up their lost time with commitment and excellence in the arts.
They are intrinsically motivated with a fire to thrive.
Nobody works harder or with higher standards of excellence. This year the students have more intensity and optimism than ever and want to show their talents to an expanded audience. This requires new equipment that our Title I district cannot currently afford. This project would mean the world to my students as they can begin to perform at new events and enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
My Project
My students are in a small choir that have issues with voice amplification, specifically in bigger settings, such as outdoor performances at sporting events. In order to give my students the chance to perform at more events, such as singing the National Anthem at sporting events, or to help with amplification during concerts, these microphones will be used to take them to the next level. This will open up the doors to performing at many more events. Without these microphones, my students will not have a legitimate chance to perform in many opportunities, and will be stuck performing strictly in concerts with poor acoustics and amplification.
