My students need 2 Power Shot digital cameras to create amazing videos for our school next year to promote a positive school culture, prevent bullying and improve the academic culture of our school!
My students are wonderful, bright and caring individuals who come from some of the most challenging socioeconomic backgrounds. It is a challenge for them to walk to school and home every day because they live in such a high-crime neighborhood. A young man was murdered across from the school just last year.
They are truly disadvantaged and the majority come from immigrant families in which they are the "hope for the future." They are here to live the American Dream and their education is their pathway to achieving these dreams.
These young people have hearts, minds and hands that are ready, willing and able to learn, act and participate in our great society. They need all of us to come together to support them in this endeavor. My students care about their community and city. They want to be positive impacts and grow up to be successful young men and women. Together, we can be the force that lifts them from poverty and violence and leads them to a brighter future.
My Project
My students will be doing some amazing videos for our school next year to promote a positive school culture, prevent bullying and improve the academic culture. My students will also be creating their own Ted style talks with the new Ted-Ed program to allow our students a voice for issues of concern to them. I plan to implement this marvelous program and amplify student voice, ideas and inspiration next year. We are a Title-1 school with 100% at-risk students whose voices need to be heard.
We really need two good digital video/digital cameras to make this really successful for my students and to have enough technology to make this possible.
