This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Wow! That actually sounded good!" My heart is full when I hear my students get excited about playing music together. I am blessed to teach at a Title I school in Oklahoma City that values the importance of the arts in each child's education. Even though many of my students face challenges such as poverty and homelessness, they come to school with a smile and desire to learn. Their resiliency inspires me to be the best teacher I can possibly be!

My Project

Composition and Improvisation are just as important for musicians to learn as note reading and playing technique. My students need a BOSS Loop Station to jam together and explore improvisational techniques. I have created an additional project for instrument pickups, electric instruments, and amplifier equipment.

My students will have the opportunity to collaborate with one another, experiment with loops, improvise melodies, and edit their work in recording software.

This will help them to better understand scales, chord progressions, and the overall form and structure of a piece of music. I cannot wait to hear the music we will create together!
