My students are rock stars — literally! Our community has a uniquely high level of appreciation for music. This passion carries right into our schools and classrooms, as our marching band boasts nearly 300 members. Students in my classes are passionate about music technology, engineering, and performing in the community. We offer them opportunities to learn career-based applications of their talents and passions in music and the arts, areas that are too often cut from school programs. Our students themselves have pioneered an incredible non-traditional contemporary performing ensemble that mirrors the passion seen in our community's thriving music scene.
These students perform music with skill, dedication, and enthusiasm for various local charity events and our many large annual music and arts festivals.
Our high school is one of the top ten most diverse high schools in our state. With our vast cultural and economic diversity, our district leads a bold mission to provide equity and equality for students of all walks. Our student-centered vision is to foster in all of our students a sense of passion and purpose. The students in our music program absolutely embody that vision.
My Project
Our classroom isn't your traditional music classroom. We regularly utilize instruments like electric guitars, basses and keyboards to make amazing, high energy performances and recordings. With our program constantly growing in popularity, and our performances growing in size and scope, we need to make sure our gear keeps up with our creative vision.
We are requesting two electric guitar amplifiers and an electric bass amplifier for recording and live performances.
These amplifiers will be used by many student guitar and bass players for decades! The selected amps offer both excellent sound quality as well as portability for transporting to the various venues at which we perform. They will also be used regularly for our weekly rehearsals, and for our many classroom recording activities.
Our students learn a wealth of real-world skills through our music production program including recording and mixing arts, organizational and interpersonal skills, communications and marketing, music performance and theory, in addition to building up their confidence in front of peers and large groups. One of our main successes has been providing quality, industry-accurate equipment for them to use and learn with, much of which has been donated by generous people like you!
