My unique, special group of students come from the highest level of poverty. 98% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Most live in unstable or unsafe home environments and neighborhoods. Coming to school is one of their greatest joys because they are safe and receive two hot meals.
My students are fun, kind, and eager to learn, they just don't have the tools or support they need at home.
I want to do everything I can as a teacher to support them and help them to overcome their situations and love learning the way I do!
Despite struggles that they encounter every day, they come to school ready to learn and happy. I focus every day on the positives in our lives and we frequently talk about the good in the world. Help me to show them how the kindness of strangers works!
My Project
I am asking for an Amazon Echo-kids edition, as well as a voice remote. Technology is a growing part of education. And we don't always have access to all resources that can help us. That is where YOU come in. With the multi-functional abilities that the echo has, my students can use it all throughout the day within all subjects.
Alexa has no limits in the classroom.
It is a resource to help with synonyms and antonyms. It assists in helping with spelling. It can read stories aloud to students. It has higher level thinking and puzzle games. It is also a resource to find factual information on a report or project they are doing. They can play background music while working. And they are great for a whole group timer. The possibilities are endless!
I love offering my students exposure to technology, and problem solving resources and giving them another tool for their toolbox of life!
