Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students don't get many opportunities to express themselves in an artistic manor. Which is why we started an Art Club for our students after school, the students became so excited about it that we have over 50 members!
My students live in a very low income neighborhood and don't get to experience the arts in ways that other children in more affluent neighborhoods get to.
Our students are very dedicated to everything they do, which is why when we had so many sign up for the Art Club we knew we were going to need more supplies to fulfill the artistic visions of our members.
My Project
By allowing our students to express themselves artistically we are helping to create more well-rounded, engaged, and active citizens. We are also leveling the playing field for our students, the experiences that the Art Club will provide will help them in their future endeavors. In order for our students to do this they need to have access to materials such as canvases, paints, and brushes.
Don't all children deserve the right to experience the arts at a young age?
With budget cutbacks it is becoming harder and harder for schools to include art in their curriculum, which is why we felt the need to create an after school Art Club. Our hopes are that the experiences our students have will make a lasting impression in them and the families. Please help us pave the road for artistic learn in our school!
