My students need composition notebooks, crayons, markers, and glue sticks.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a teacher in a low-income/high needs school on the south side of Chicago, I am dedicated to providing a loving and nurturing educational experience for my students. Despite the many challenges my students face, I want to provide them with the materials and experiences that will create a life long passion for learning.
My students are bright, creative, and full of joy.
They love to read and play, and create. I want to give them all the materials and experiences so they can accomplish their dreams. Over 95% of my students qualify for free lunch, and many of my students need support obtaining their school supplies. With your help, it is my mission to not let anything get in the way of their potential and goals. I will provide the materials and activities to ensure that everyone of my students feels that school is a safe, fun, and wonderful place to be.
It is my hope that by providing my students with strong academic, social, and creative opportunities at the beginning of their academic career, they will be able to accomplish their dreams.
This project will provide the basic supplies my students will need all year long. Each student will receive four composition notebooks, one for each subject, and a writers notebook.
I use these notebooks to give students the opportunity to apply their learning in creative ways.
Our school does not offer curriculum or workbooks, so these notebooks are vital to my classroom. Students will use these notebooks everyday and in all subjects, by the end of the year they are a work of art!
In my classroom we use these journals, glue sticks, crayons, and markers for a variety of projects and assignments. For example, every morning my students will use their writing journal to answer the Question of the Day. During our reading and math block my students have a multiple of journal activities. These include phonemic sorting, interactive word problems, comprehension pages, and more.
I can't wait to see the amazing work my students do with this gift. Thank you so much for your support!
