Amazing Play in Pre-K!

Help me give my students educational activities that give strong support to literacy, STEM, and numeracy while engaging them in purposeful play. Storage for our dramatic play area will make imagination play easier and more fun.

My Students

I teach in a district preschool classroom in rural Utah. The level of poverty in our area is high, but the kids are amazing! Our classes are full every year, with a waiting list. We have 2 sessions, a morning and an afternoon class, each with 16 students in it.

Our classroom strives to provide a high-quality preschool experience to students from across the spectrum, including Title I, SPED, and English Language Learners, as well as more typical students.

Funding can be tight, but we are doing everything we can to boost kids toward a bright educational future.

My Project

As a preschool teacher in a Title I school, I strive to offer my students a classroom experience that will prepare them for an impactful educational future. I hope to do this with educational toys from the DonorsChoose grant. A dress-up organizer in our dramatic play area will make imagination play more easily accessible. We will use the step stool to make frequent hand washing easier and safer. Having numerous opportunities for literacy and numeracy play means numerous opportunities for learning.

In offering a wide variety of intentional, purposeful toys and activities, I hope to create an environment that gives my kiddos academic AND emotional support.

I believe that an engaging educational experience can really drive strong academic growth, setting the stage for a lifetime of learning.
