My students need novels to participate in novel studies. I am not able to get a variety of class sets of novels for my students to read in my RSP room.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with the most amazing students and enjoy everyday I'm with them. Most of my students have learning disabilities. Some also have extreme physical disabilities.
I work with K-6th grade in a pull out RSP program.
These students are amazing because they push themselves to achieve high standards even with their learning barriers. Even with all of the struggles they face on a every-day basis these students never give up.
My students also come from poverty stricken neighborhoods. Sometimes they don't have enough to eat, the proper clothes to wear, or their home life is emotionally challenging. I do my best to provide them with the resources they need to be successful in life academically and emotionally.
My Project
My students enjoy participating in novel studies. They need books that are at their reading level so they feel comfortable reading with other students. They often feel intimidated in the classroom because they are two or three grade levels behind in reading. Getting a set of books that they can read in my RSP room will allow them to continue to grow their literacy skills. My students need copies of the novels Because of Winn-Dixie, Inside Out and Back Again, and Holes. While they read they will complete daily journal entries and other projects. Some of the literacy projects will be character portraits, a variety of graphic organizers, and essays.
