I teach a very unique group of students. They come from countries all over the world, speak many languages, and have a wide range of needs. My students require support not only to read, write, and complete math- they need help to learn basic executive functions and communicate with their peers. My several of my fourth graders have special needs and most are English language learners.
My students love learning, and they truly enjoy being in school.
This year, we've encountered an obstacle like no other- we are teaching our children from afar. In my 9 years as an educator, I've never experienced anything like this. I truly miss being face-to-face with these amazing kids, and they miss being in school.
My curious, persevering fourth graders have enjoyed using this time to reconnect with one another. They crave any sense of normalcy, and they love "seeing" one anther on the computer. Even online, we focus on building a positive classroom community. We're supporting one another, problem-solving together, and continuing to learn our curriculum in new and creative ways.
With your support, we will have a new library in the fall!
My students absolutely LOVE to read books and listen to books. Please help grow our classroom library by providing my students with more mentor texts. You will help them ask meaningful questions, make authentic connections, and wonder about the how the past molds their future.
I am a firm believer "practice makes progress," and my students WANT to practice reading.
They want to listen to books; they want to read books; and they want to share book ideas with their friends. These science books will help them wonder about the world around them- my curious learners are thirsty for knowledge. The history books will help them think about our nation's leaders and learn from our country's past. These fiction books will help them emulate strong character traits through deep discussions. My 4th graders will love each and every book, and I can just imagine how their minds will grow.
Thank you for donating to my classroom and for supporting our young readers. They will appreciate this gift more than you know.
