Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first grade students are eager to learn. For some of my students, this is their first experience being in an actual classroom. They are energetic and very curious about everything. They love to express themselves in writing, drawing, coloring, and painting. My students are discovering the world through books and through technology.

They meet all challenges with a positive attitude and a belief that everything is possible.

My students are primarily English language learners and their primary language is Spanish. I teach in a low-socioeconomic community where resources are limited.

My Project

The GeoSafari Ant Factory will allow my students to learn about what it takes to maintain the ant habitat. My students will learn about their ecology and how ants are able to survive.

My students will also use the Creature Peeper to catch insects and observe them.

They will be able to draw diagrams of the insects and when they have completed their observation, they will be able to release the insect.

My students will be able to experience real hands-on life science which would truly inspire them to think like scientists.
