Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 28 eager first-grade students who enjoy learning how to read, write, and do math. Our awesome school is located in Southern California. They need basic art supplies, books, and labels that enhance science, writing, math and reading projects.
My students range from gifted and talented to below grade level.
We are proud to be a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence and have won many prestigious awards. Since we are not a Title I school, funding extra projects is very difficult!
My Project
Students will be returning to the classroom in the next few weeks. I want to make learning fun with creative art projects that will inspire top notch writing. I am trying to get my students to use more adjectives in their sentences to make longer, more interesting sentences. Art projects are colorful and students can describe their masterpieces using color, number and sensory words. The labels would be used to print class sets of colorful names to use on their lunch cards, art projects, books, crayon boxes, sticker books, cubbies, coat racks and many other projects. The beads would be used in collages and Native American necklaces.
The interactive science and math books give students the opportunity to create fun mini books, flaps, colorful pictures, and labels that describe science biomes or show how to make a ten, geometric shapes, or math patterns to name a few lessons.
I am also requesting 5 create, design drill kits for students to make butterflies and other objects that show symmetry or any design they can create using their imagination.
Finally, the cut-out letters will allow me to label their projects and proudly display their awesome artwork on our large bulletin boards.
