My Students

As a class in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with numerous challenges both in and out of the classroom. In spite of the challenges they face. My students come to school hungry and ready to learn and grow. It is my goal as a teacher to provide each student that enters my classroom with meaningful learning experiences.

They love to move, they love to talk, and love lots of positive attention.

Many students live in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things can keep them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with certain life experiences. In my classroom, I focus on their potential and try to give them the best opportunities to succeed. I may not be able to control what happens outside my classroom, however, I can certainly control what happens inside my classroom. By creating a positive and creative learning environment, I hope to inspire every student to continued success.

My Project

Help me give my students the tools they need to create amazing art projects. These supplies will give my students the opportunity to explore art and color with paint and chalk. My students have enjoyed working with watercolors and oils pastels and now I want to give them the experience of working with different types of paints and chalk they can use to mix and blend colors. They will also be learning how to use different painting techniques to create their colorful and unique masterpieces. Our units of study lend themselves easily to create paintings of many different subjects. The students will be able to not only show what they learn about these topics through reading, writing, speaking and listening but will also be able to demonstrate learning through art.
