Help me give my students a chance to use their creativity to colorfully personalize items like canvas pencil cases, create beautiful geometric henna designs, and create sticker mosaics.
Our school is a very special place and our students are no exception. Nestled in a busy Brooklyn neighborhood, our students come from all 5 boroughs of New York City to be here each day. They stay late, busy at clubs or other afterschool activities.
Our library-loving students are good-natured, curious and hardworking.
They had to be at the very top of their class to gain admission to our school. Our school is at 60% poverty, just shy of the Title I designation.
My Project
Students in our library Makerspace work together to be creative, try out new materials, and relieve some of their daily stress. This year, we're excited to try out some new ideas. We are hoping that sticker mosaics will keep our students busy and working together to reveal a surprise image at the end.

By pairing canvas pencil cases and fabric markers, students will have an opportunity to customize a very usable daily item.
Henna has been used to create beautiful, decorative body art since the Bronze Age...and now we want to give students a chance to adorn themselves creatively in the library as well!
