My students need access to an Apple iPad and Apple Pencil to create, design and showcase their work on the classroom ENO board. This technology affords them the opportunities to compete with suburban peers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach ART at an inner city location. I see over 500 students a week and each student deserves a well stocked classroom and a variety of materials to better explore their world and learn about life through the arts! As 100% free lunch district resources are always extremely limited. My yearly budget is $2.oo per student which makes it very difficult to provide students with interesting, engaging and creative projects. Multiple times over the year I purchase supplies out of my own pocket to provide students with new experiences but these projects would help me to reach all students. Just this year alone I hosted a gallery walk where each students' artwork was on display. Over 500 original masterpieces lined our hallways. From Van Gogh to Picasso to Romero Britto, artists from all walks of life were represented and showcased.
There are no better students than my own.
I have seen them grow over the past 10 years. I start with them in Pre-k and teach them right through eight grade. The relationship we create and maintain is one of the main reasons I continue to give my all in an inner city district!
My Project
Students will be able to showcase their work for all the class. When they create or are working on a drawing program, they can use the iPad pencil and iPad to display their actual work in real time for the class. This will facilitate students learning to describe and present their original work. In a world where paper is a highly esteemed resource, it would be of great benefit to the students to have at their disposal, an apple pencil and accompanying iPad that would allow them to explore drawing and shading and using different styles of writing and drawing without actually using or touching a pen and paper.
This resource would be invaluable as each of my 7 classes daily passing through would have access to this resource and would be able to gain experience and knowledge that would better prepare them for the technology world that they live in.
As I continue to integrate the arts into the curriculum at my school, it is imperative that these students have equal opportunities to engage with and practice on tools that are part of mainstream society. These tools will be used in the high schools and job arena in the future and I will have a major impact in preparing them with this resource.
You will see at the conclusion the multiple ways that this will be used in the classroom! When I post the pictures at the close of the projects, students will showcase the amazing skills they have learned and you can be confident that your donation was well spent! Thank you for helping me to creatively engage my students in the arts with the iPad pencil and the iPad pro!
