Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner city public school which houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum disorders.
My classroom consists of eighteen children, two of which are on the Autism Spectrum.
All my students are the most kind and hardworking students you will ever meet. They are so genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet!
My Project
Watching live ants building elaborate tunnels in an Ant Farm will be an exciting and memorable learning experience! Students will observe and record their observations of ants working together in the Ant Farm. My students will be able to further their understanding of the ants anatomy by their observations.
My second graders are so fascinated and excited to learn more about ants.
This project will allow us to examine ants in depth and students will learn what these insects need to survive and how to respect and protect ants. With our vast array of ant books, students will be able to read all about ants and their habitat.
