Our Title I school is in a rural district that includes several small towns and communities. There is only one public library in the district. My classroom has up to 15 young five-year-old children. The students in the "Begindergarten" program are chronologically ready to enter the school setting, but may not be developmentally ready to endure the rigors of the kindergarten curriculum.
Begindergarten allows our students a year to develop the foundational skills to enter kindergarten the following school year.
We focus on foundational reading, math, fine motor, and social-emotional skills. My students are all so unique and learn in such different ways. They love to learn through inquiry, love to play, and love to be creative.
My Project
I am requesting alphabet sound teaching tubs and a storage rack from Lakeshore. My students learn best using play-based methods that encourage exploration. Begindergarten is fairly new to our district and I am slowly acquiring materials that are hands-on, playful and meaningful to my students.
These alphabet teaching tubs will help support the learning for my diverse group of young learners.
The Alphabet Sound Teaching Tubs will bring each letter of the alphabet to life for the children I teach. Giving students the ability to touch and feel will provide a more meaningful hands-on activity. Using actual objects will allow my students to make concrete connections and increase their vocabulary as well. Thank you for helping my students build their literacy skills!
