This school serves many students of diverse backgrounds. There are ten ESOL students. Seventy-five percent of my students receive free or reduced price lunch, so resources and supplies are hard to get. These students are energetic, brilliant students that need more materials to support their learning. I want to guide them down the path to success by engaging them in school with items they haven’t seen before. I'm a new teacher trying to give what they need. Thank you for your support!
My Project
Stem is non-existent in our Title One school. Students are expected to develop science and engineering skills without any tools that allow them to grow and learn. With the Zoob materials, students would be able to solve problems and build in an engaging way. These stem tools will ensure communication and teamwork as they try to solve problems and build. Children are creative learners and being presented with tools that encourage unique structures, would benefit my students in many ways. The marble run course would also be useful in teaching motion, a SOL objective in fifth grade. Using the marble course, students can experiment with potential and kinetic energy as well as inertia and friction. Lastly, the privacy boards are important in a Title One school. Students are very diverse and therefore, test at different rates. My children would be more comfortable in their own private testing environment created by the privacy boards. They can also use these daily to create individual ideas throughout STEM and other curricular areas. These children are marvelous kids. Having materials would greatly increase their ability to learn and have fun in school!
