My students need various magnet types, and a magnetic field visual Wonder Window for them to practice our Next Generation Physical Science skills. We need white construction paper to create magnet art with our buddies.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kind, hard working students are mainly English Language Learners who practice reading, writing, listening and speaking skills every day. My goal is to make school engaging so they will want to come to school every day. My students are growing up in the age where future jobs are not even discovered yet! They crave learning with technology, computer programming, and art to help them use collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity skills!
My nurturing students are "buddies" to the special day class in our grade, so we learn from each other.
We learn cooperation, patience, and social skills, as well as grade level common core standards as they work with the buddies. Our school's distinguished practice is technology, and I am always looking for ways to integrate technology into all subject areas (STEAM- Science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
My Project
Physical science in third grade is so much fun! We are learning about electric and magnetic forces and interactions. We can use these various magnets to conduct several experiments, where we ask and answer our own questions about magnetic forces. We can make predictions about if the circle magnets will stack or be "suspended" apart from each other! We can predict if adding two magnets changes the force it exerts. The results of our investigations will be written down in our STEAM notebooks for display at Open House at the end of the year.
We want our buddies to participate with us, so we will also be making a magnetic art project with them.
The paint and objects go on top of the paper on a tray, and the magnet moves under the tray to move the object around. The result will be an abstract painting created with the objects!
