This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district in Pittsburgh, PA. My students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Although they have many struggles, they do thrive in our classroom.
My students enjoy being in a safe and educational environment.
I want them to believe in themselves! Since they are all low income, they receive free breakfast and lunch daily. All of the children are ages 3-5 years and come to school for a 6-hour day. They are greeted daily with a positive attitude and a loving environment.
I hope to make a positive impact on their lives and hope to watch them succeed as they grow and move on to other classes. They deserve to have great experiences and know they can become successful every day in and out of school.
My Project
I would love to have the opportunity to have walkie talkies that can be used for important situations. There are so many different things that can happen during the school day. These can help ALL teachers and students feel safe. There are situations that can happen such as students getting into an altercation, students hurt or sick, and sometimes even running out of the room. These can help everyone communicate during the event and help it resolve quickly. Only one person on each floor has these, which isn't as effective as every one having one!
