The students in my classroom are loving, caring and sweet young boys and girls. They want to learn and experience life just as we do. My students have both cognitive and physical limitations. They are in wheelchairs and non-verbal, but do not let this get in their way. We are a center program for students with severe cognitive impairments. We work hard to minimize their limitations by building from their abilities and striving to give them the best education possible.
My classroom is filled with amazing kids who enjoy life as we do. Their opportunities are cut short at times because of their "limitations." There are many things out there that can bring them the opportunities we all want. One of these things is a variable access swing.
A variable access swing brings that joy as well as therapy to these wonderful kids.
This swing provides a comfortable place to sit outside of a wheelchair and a fun activity. It also helps with spacial awareness.
Giving the students the chance to get out of their wheelchair, in a flexible seat that also provides support and comfort is helpful in their learning. We can bring the lessons to them if needed too. This swing is a great asset to our classroom because it provides a variety of benefits to each student in many ways.
