Hi, I am a first year Special Education Teacher! I am loving it with my kiddo's we are learning all sorts of things together. I am hoping to create an environment that is comfortable, airy, and a place in which we can learn, review, and master all sorts of awesome things.
The challenge is the size of my room, so organization and functionality is key.
I would like to incorporate some alternative seating, and stations around my room. This way students know where to go and when giving them some autonomy in choices.
The overall plan of course is a space where my students feel like they can learn, and have fun doing it. Their is such a wide range of personalities and I would like to explore ways that help them all feel free to express themselves. Free of criticism, and judgement. Their is so much of that in this world I would like my room to be a safe place.
My Project
The flexi bands on chairs, I have watched them calm a student down that is studying, or being given a verbal test.
The yoga balls also help the students multitask while they are concentrating, and the body is focusing on keeping itself balance it opens the brain up to concentrate.
Helping student to calm down and hear what is being said to them.
I like the idea of the lap tables giving them the ability to study in a spot all their own. All of these Items will help my students continue to grow. Which is the overall goal!! Thanks!!
