Students ages 7-9 years of age. They are active and still very young. The students love school and are excited to learn. They come in with smiles on their faces. At this age students need support in independent work and this often includes creating their own inviting space.
Mindfulness and awareness of self and our actions is important in our classroom.
Students are working on building a toolbox of ways they can be successful and learn good, healthy character traits.
Children need to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. There are many studies that show to much sitting in chairs can be tough on our bodies overtime.
Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive.
My classroom environment plays a key role in the learning that takes place there. My students learn best when they are comfortable and feel safe. Giving students a place to go work where they are comfortable is essential in their learning! With your donations students will be able to use stools, yoga pads, and sit down desks. They can move to floor and still work successfully or sit in a stool.
