This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For many of my students the 6 1/2 hours a day they are with me may be the only time they have a comfortable and safe environment in which to be themselves, collaborate and learn. My students come ready to learn each day no matter what happens at home the night before or in the morning. I want to show them I appreciate their hard work and engagement by providing them with a comfortable learning environment that meets their need.
My students will leave their worries behind when they walk in the door and be ready to collaborate and have fun in a unique environment tailored to their needs.
My Project
Many of my students need an alternative to desk and table seating to be successful each day. Sensory and attention needs may prevent a child from learning in a traditional format. These seats allow the students to move around and find a seating situation that better meets their learning needs.
The opportunity to choose a seat that allows them to wiggle or move gives these students the learning environment they need to be most successful.
These seats would be placed around the classroom along with lap desks to provide my students with an opportunity to find seating that best meets their individual learning need.
