My students need smaller chairs to sit around my kidney shaped table as our current chairs are too large to accommodate more than 4 children but the table could sit 6 comfortably.
I have four English Second Language students this year, four others with ADHD, one wheelchair bound student, along with the rest of my students and all are excited to be at school every day and learn as much as they can. My group is into artistic expression skills and love it when I make learning into a game. They tend to learn more when they are actively engaged. My building is a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade building so all of my students were new to the school this year. They have persevered and belong. I feel comforted when I see their smiling faces come through my door each morning.
My Project
My room has limited space especially since one of my students requires room to navigate his wheelchair. Wobble chairs will take up less space and will fit under the desk easier. The flex cushion seating can be stored on a shelf and pulled out when needed. This will provide more opportunity for alternative seating.
By allowing more space around the table by having wobble chairs, my wheelchair bound student would fit with several friends rather than one to work in cooperative groups.
This would help him be included in more activities for learning in small groups. By using flex-space wobble chairs, I will be able to work with more students at once gathered around in a family-friendly setting.
