I am currently blessed to be 28 incredible kiddos' Kindergarten teacher. Of the 28 Kindergarten kiddos, eight have special needs and two are English-language learners. The majority of my students come from low-income households. My goal as their teacher is to provide each student with a safe, loving and comfortable environment.
My students are very loving, engaged, and squirmy!
In my classroom we have a tight knit community. The students start their day with a community circle and end their day with a community circle. Through these community circles, we are able to build positive relationships with one another, personal communication skills, and have fun!
My Project
We are requesting lap desks, wobble cushions, floor cushions, rocking chairs, bean bag chairs and balance ball chairs. All of these alternative seating options will be used in my Kindergarten classroom of 28 students!
The idea is that every student has a different learning style, and as their teacher I want to empower each student to choose which seat in our classroom best meets their needs!
Each student will have the following options: exercise balls, stools, cushions, table trays, rocking chairs, and bean bags to use throughout the day. They will be no longer tied to sitting on a chair at a desk while they learn, but desks are still an option for those who prefer them, but they are unassigned. Let's make learning comfortable!
